Parched Pigments
By ScrappyPam on Jun 9, 2009 | In Fun Projects
Roni over at Ink Stains came up with a cool name for a hot technique - Parched Pigments. (See her tutorial here.) I've tried this before, but I don't think I used enough glue, or didn't heat it long enough, or... something. It just didn't turn out the way it was supposed to.
So I tried again using Roni's tutorial and had better success this time. I did use a thick (old) glue and I probably should have thinned it out a little before I applied it. I ended up with a heavy coat of it that took a long time to dry and bubble, but the results are much better.
I had found a tin at the thrift store the other day (it was an old Hallmark tin with cute little bears on top - you can see parts of it underneath), and tried the technique on the top. I used copper, bronze and antique gold Perfect Pearls and this is how it came out:

Pretty cool looking, eh? Here's a closeup of part of it:

And here is the finished tin top, after adding alcohol inks, Distress Stickles, and various embellishments:

Now I need to work on the bottom part of the tin. Not sure what I'm going to do with it yet, but I'll let you know!
ETA: I forgot to mention, I used the image from the Art Creations Friday blog's weekly challenge. See it here!
